Absolutely great. If it's working.

I love online learning. And data. Naturally, this review should be a 5 star review. This platform and its content are definitely quite great.
But it often just does not work.
Imagine scheduling time to learn about something that excites you, and then the platform just won't be working. This happens a lot. It just did so 5 mins ago.
I'm about to finish another certificate of a course. But I cannot finish it because the platform doesn't let me. All I read is "Oops, something went wrong."
Yeah great, thanks!!

Never agreed to auto renewal

I purchased what I remember clearly as a ONE SPECIFIC course without auto renewal, and got billed anyway for renewal one year after!
The thing is, I never used the course I bought last time, and that was my fault. But being billed again, when I for sure did not agreed to this, is absurd! I won't let this stay that way.

I joined as a hobbyist to learn Python…

I joined as a hobbyist to learn Python for independent projects. They are only focused on training people climbing the corporate ladder being cogs in the data science machine. If you're that person fair enough, but they aren't clear on what they are tailored for upfront. The instruction was pretty poor to boot.
Auto-renewal is the worst thing possible, it's almost as if they're trying to get people to hate them. If you reach out within minutes of getting charged for auto renewal, they say it's in their TOS to rip you off. They aren't reasonable and it isn't within my power to recommend them any less.
Update: They actually refunded my auto renewal change and cancelled my account for me. Added a star.

Renewal scam!

I bought a one year subscription but found content a bit poor so not many courses that i wanted to do. $259 spent. Annual renewal comes around, i get offer the same fee but first timers get $149?! Customer services is a joke, no price matching, no installments simply no service. I have now moved to another platform far more flexible!

I don't understand why there are lot of bad reviews.
I found it pretty good. There is lot of material and also i managed to get the package at decent price due to discount sale of New Year.
I believe most of the bad reviews is coming from people who were complete beginners and the programmes were a bit too intellectual for them.
I also admit, use Datacamp courses if you have brief understanding.
Like if you want to learn SQL, learn the basics via Udemy or Youtube and then come to Datacamp.

Used it to practice for an online assessment. It has great features but at the time had not specified the specific programming language version. Eg Phyton but which Phyton?

Locks content for schools mid-semester

Will lock content for schools without any notice. Support requests are marked as "solved" without responding. You will continue to ask what the solution was for several inquiries. If you receive a response, DataCamp staff will claim your email could not be located. You will explain the absurdity of DataCamp emailing you an invite to join the group then losing your email. Support will finally begrudgingly state that your content expired weeks ago (in the middle of a semester)--again without any notice or further explanation. You will then read about DataCamp patting themselves on the back for a job well done (DataCamp's Blog: q1-2020-customer-satisfaction) while reading the poor reviews on trustpilot.

Great courses and projects

Great courses and projects. Editing the codes help us gain confidence. Step by step improvement in the difficulty level. I have erased the whole code several times and tried the exercises on my own. There is no problem with canceling subscriptions. It is worth more than Netflix or amazon prime. A very good investment.

Great platform to learn to be a backend developer

I only have a good experience with this platform. For me, it is one of the best platforms to learn to be a backend developer.

3 reasons why Datacamp is a ripoff.

3 reasons why Datacamp is a ripoff.
First: Wrong skill-level matching. The course will tell you it's a beginner level course when it's not. I feel sorry for absolute beginners who will feel like they're stupid when it's the course claim's fault.
Second: Absolutely poor content. Lessons briefly explain complex topics then will ask you to EDIT the code instead of coding it from scratch so you actually learn. If this is the case, I should've gone to Coursera or EdX instead.
Third: Cancellation scam. On the subscriptions tab, it will give you a 'Stop Automatic Billing' option but it wouldn't cancel your subscriptions, instead, it will only delay your payment for a month without providing you any notifications. It doesn't have an easy or clear cancellation option. Check out Datacamp's account settings to prove my point.
Datacamp is a total waste of money. Try Youtube, EdX, or Coursera instead if all you're going to do is watch videos and then look up the terms they provided to you instead of actually explaining it in detail as a paid course should.
I'm subscribed to both Datacamp and Dataquest, and the latter is infinitely better.
